THE HARAPPAN CIVILIZATION

MY POST FOR NOW IS ON THIS!!!
!

Yes, one of the earliest civilization of the world HARAPPAN CIVILIZATION...better known as the great INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION.Its name is derived from the river Indus which is to the west of India, well however the Harappa was the first site which brought to light the presence of this civilization and it also spread much beyond the valley of Indus,so it is called as Harappan Civilization .
The geographical of this civilization spreads from the north-west of India to the Pakistan and also cover some parts of Iran.

The most unique feature of this civilization was that it had urban centers .  Haraappa , Mohenjodaro , Lothal, Kalibangan , Banawali etc. The interesting fact about this place of  Kalibangan is that the archaeologists have excavated black bangles , Banawali the place where the archaeologists didn't find any features of this civilization and Lothal is the sea port which carried the trade relations with other contemporary civilization that is the Mesopotamian and Egyptian Civilization.

What is in this civilization that makes it great??
Every aspect of this civilization makes it great... town planning is one of its aspect. The Harappan civilization flourished around cities. The riuns of the cities so far unearthed show remarkable Town planning and excellent drainage facilities. The city was the heart of this civilization. The major cities were divided into two parts , the upper portion which was used for the protection purpose and the ruling class or the head of the place lived there(we still don't have any information about the administration of Harappan civiization). The other portion was the lower portion were the common people lived The roads were generally oriented from north-south direction connecting the small streets at right angles
Drainage System most remarkable feature. In the city, all the big and small houses had its own courtyard and bathrooms.water flowed from the houses to the streets through drains. The drains were well covered by stone slabs, which tells about there sanitation facilities ...

To the left of this picture we can see a well covered drainage that flows from the house.

Apart from the Town planning -the wooden ploughs, the huge  Granary's present in Mohenjodaro tells us about their agricultural life. The Harappans were blessed with fertile soil, besides this their were the first civilization to produce cotton.

The Great Granary is a 'mystery-building' at Harappa. At first the archaeologists
thought  the building was a grain-store or 'granary'. But there is no evidence of any grain!.It's a mystery which has yet to be solved!!!!!

Another mystery that is yet to be solved is THE GREAT BATH....

GREAT BATH is one of the best example for the beautiful brick works of the Harappan's . The floor of this bath is made up of brunt bricks!!. There are pipes which allow's the water to enter and also to drain out from the other side . It was also believed that they were facilities that let cold and as well as hot water inside the bath .The rooms at the side of  this bath were termed as the rooms for changing purposes!! The usage  of this bath is still not been deciphered . Some think that it was used for the ritual purposes and some think that it is for the public use.

The language of the Harappan's have still been a mystery to use, some think that it  is related to sanskrit script but some say that it is related to dravidian or proto-dravidian language . Like urdu language the Harappans script is from right to left. They have a pictorial representation. The discovered about 400 to 600 logographics .But no one knows what it means, the script of the Harappan's have not been deciphered yet.

Different hobbies of the Harappan's were
 - singing , dancing , pot-making etc. It was believed that the Harappans had expert hand on the potters wheels , different sizes, shapes of pot have been excavated...

Indus Burial Pottery

Different seals figures of  a sage was discovered like the people believed in god and called it as "PASUPATHI" who's seals have been dough out ,the seal shows that he sits in a meditating posture with two deer's infront and elephant, riho, tiger, lion .The seal also show that he has three horns and three faces , tey also called him linga (phallus) usually worshipped by the non aryans.

and i'll end this topic with  rituals that their followed -Harappan's buried there people in the north-south direction . With the bangles , mirror , pots. clothes etc this shows that people of this civilization believed in life after death theory !!!!!!
There are many more mysterys that are yet to be UNFOLDED...........................

WHATS THIS ??? UR RIGHT   A TRAIN.  Gets you all  excited about the journey and vacation.......... doesn't it??? But it gives me blues.... why? I'd like to share that experience with you all.....

The last summer I had been to Delhi for a vacation . It was fun !!!!! I dint know how the 2 weeks had passed . Finally it was time for us leave ,as our journey was not preplanned we did not have our return tickets . So,we thought to get the tickets in tatkal . I hope you all have heard about the scheme started by the IRCTC  department of India... that is nothing but the TATKAL SCHEME.

Under this scheme-For passengers who plan their journey at short notice. These tickets can be booked over counter and on the internet .Tatkal Booking starts one day in advance (reduced from 2 days) excluding the day of journey e.g. for a journey on 10th counters will  open at 10 am on 9th.To get a ticket booked by tatkal one must carry his/her copy of identity  at the time of booking the ticket and also during his train journey. Government of Indian Railways have started this scheme for the public wefare.

So we decided to go to the station at 7 o clock -it dint work out , because they was already long queue ....Then again we decided to go early on the next day . But  to our bad luck it didnt make any difference on that day also we couldn't get the tickets .. and we also tried to book  tickets online but was of no use .. and then when we went to the station again an agent asked us around 1000 rupees just to stand  FIRST IN THE  QUEUE?? ...and who on this earth will pay him just to stand front in the row and even after paying him the amount we'll not be sure to get a ticket .....a week passed like this   and i felt like i'll never return to Hyderabad..
Then, somehow we managed to get the tickets and came back to Hyderabad.  I had to miss a week in my college ....
TRULY, I CAN NEVER FORGET THIS JOURNEY......
now look at the tired ME!(near the pillar)

Then i cam to know about the tatkal scam !!! I couldn't believe it!!
                                   WATCH  IT .............

                             TATKAL SCAM EXPOSED BY CNN-IBN
We all common passengers try hard to travel from one place to another and all  these people try to cheat us!!!
To curb this problem the government p
roposed that scrapping the Tatkal ticket sales at counters and allowing only e-reservations and changing the timings for the Tatkal ticket booking to avoid overlap with booking times for normal tickets are also under consideration .                                 Sources in the Railway Ministry say a decision on the measures to be adopted will be taken soon. Earlier measures to streamline the Tatkal system like allowing only two tickets per person, disallowing change of passenger names after booking and stricter cancellation rules don't seem to have worked in eliminating touts...
HOPE THAT THE GOVERNMENT DOES THE NEEDFUL  AT THE EARLIEST!

SECRECTS OF TAJ MAHAL

Hello everyone!                                                                                                                                                Have you all ever wondered why and how a tomb is called as a MAHAL?                                                   If you all did'nt dont worry , because after reading this u will  start wondering why?.

Whats the first thing that strikes u all when u look at this picture?

You all may think about The 7th wonder of the world , Shah Jahan, Mumtaz, the beatiful love story,Mugals and  soo  on.......... dont u ?. But what if I tell u that Taj Mahal isn't what it seems ?  I guess you all might be thinking that"WHO THE HELL IS SHE????? " .  Let me elaborate....    Mr P.N Oak who revealed the secret behind "The Great Taj Mahal" that it was not a tomb but an old  Shiv temple . MR Oak had published a book called TAJ MAHAL-THE TRUE STORY  in which he gave many resons that how and why Shiv Temple was reconstruted as Tomb.                                                                                                       Mr P.N Oak has claimed that the Taj Mahal in reality is a Lord Shiva's Temple. He filed a petition but was rejected. No one has ever dared to challenge this eternal love story except this man. He believes that the whole world has been fooled. According to him it is an ancient Hindu temple of Shiva. He claims that it is a corrupt version of Shiva’s Palace. He believes that the love story of shah Jahan and Mumtaz is a fairy tale and nothing like that happened in reality. Since Shah Jahan’s time many rooms remained sealed and are still unreachable to the general public. Some says they contain statues of Shiva and other objects used in temples.                                                                                                                      Taj Mahal  is called as Tejo Mahalaya  which was an ancient shiva temple. It was said that before the mughals  they were  hindu kings ruling in Agra. The Hindu rulers of Agra  were  the devotees of Lord Shiva , so they constructed a beautiful temple in the name of Lord Shiva .During the rule of Shah Jahan  this temple was reconstruted as Taj  for his beautiful wife Mumtaz .                                                                                                                                                                                      NOW LOOK AT THIS!!!!!                                                                   Temple or Tomb                                                                                                     YES , this is the pinnacle of Taj Mahal .Observe this pinnacle carefully what do u see?? Yes they is a kalash  which will be often depicts the Hindu Culture. So this a hint  that Taj Mahal is not what it actually SEEMS!!!!                They are around 1000 rooms in the Mahal -why?? why are they soo many rooms in a tomb ?? Well some historians think and believe that TAJ was an ancient Shiv Temple - so i guess these rooms were used as an important part of temple to store ornaments, clothes etc of  lord SHIVA!!!!!!!   .The historians also think that they are many artifacts (related to the temple ) closed down in the chambers of  Taj..                              WELL..... they are many points which shows us that that TAJ MAHAL  shares hindu-muslim relation!!!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         OOH how can someone forget this...

THE BLACK TAJ... A MYTH??  according to the black taj's myth -Shah Jahan had planned to build mirror image of the Taj Mahal he built for Mumtaz, in black , on the other side of the river and connect the two by a bridge. This Black Taj was to be dedicated to Shah Jahan himself.Shah Jahan's obsession with symmetry, the idea certainly seems wonderfull. .It was believe that Shah Jahan  began to built his own tomb  opposite to his begums tomb but could not complete it.....  but these were the MYTHS of  some historians!        An observation made by archeologists in 2006, when they reconstructed part of the pool in the moonlit garden and it reflected a dark reflection of the white mausoleum which is the BLACK TAJMAHAL.....
Thats it for now guys take care till my next post !!! and keep diggin in because history  is in its depth ......  :)

JANTAR MANTAR

Jantar Mantar was constructed by Sawai Jai Singh , jantar means machine and mantar means measurement. In those days people did not have a watch , so they used  Jantar Matar  to keep an account of  the time. The guide who was explaining us just took a second and told us the exact time without looking at the watch !
